News Update as of August, 2011

Here’s a quick update for Fall:

Troubled Waters news: The paperback is scheduled to come out September 27. To celebrate, my webmaster has created T-shirts based on the designs he also created for all of the blessings. One T-shirt features Zoe’s three blessings; one shows all the blessings (that’s the one I own). If you’re interested in buying a shirt for yourself, go to the Troubled Waters Website and click on the link "Buy Shirts".

While you’re at it, be sure to visit the Website and Facebook page for Troubled Waters at these links:

Awards news: Troubled Waters was nominated for, but did not win, the 2011 Mythopeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature, given out by the Mythopoeic Society. (Karen Lord won for Redemption in Indigo.) This is one of those cases where it really is an honor to be nominated, because the list of past winners is crammed with some of my favorite books and writers. Skim the names here: http://www.mythsoc.org/awards/fantasy/

Convention news: Just got back from the World Science Fiction Convention in Reno, which was so much fun! (My favorite part: The kaffeeklatsch.) In a few months I’ll be heading to the World Fantasy Convention, which will be held October 27-30 in San Diego. I’m hoping to have a chance to do a reading, and if so, I’ll read from my spring book, The Shape of Desire. More information about the con is at http://www.wfc2011.org/html/mainmenu.html.

•Speaking of The Shape of Desire, here’s the awesome cover:

•Speaking of awesome covers, here’s the one for the Angels of Darkness anthology that comes out October 4. Co-authors are Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, and Meljean Brook. My novella takes place in Samaria about halfway between the events of Archangel and Jovah’s Angel. It’s called “Nocturne” and it’s about a blind angel and the woman who helps him.

The folks at http://allthingsurbanfantasy.blogspot.com/ have invited me to contribute a guest blog to their “Spooky Legends 2011” event, in which characters from upcoming paranormal romances write about an urban legend. The various guest posts will run for about a month before Halloween. I think my blog, written by the heroine of “Nocturne,” will appear during the first week of October. Should be a kick.

Audio news: The folks at Audible.com have bought the rights for The Shape of Desire and its sequel, tentatively titled Still Life with Shape-Shifter. The audio versions ought to be released about the same time as the print versions. The five Samaria books, the five Twelve Houses books, and Troubled Waters are all also available for download at Audible.com.

•And last, because it can’t be repeated often enough: A couple of filmmakers, Jason and Matt Shumway, want to launch their own studio by making a movie out of my novel The Shape-Changer’s Wife. They’re in the process of writing the script and raising money, and you can follow their progress on these Web sites: http://www.facebook.com/shapechangerswife, http://www.shapechangerswife.com, and https://www.indiegogo.com/ShapeChangersWife.
